The 3 Best Grocery Stores in Aruba

Writer: Austin from AustinAustin from Austin

1.3 million people visit Aruba every year to experience The One Happy Island's Sun, Surf and Sand, many of them staying in timeshares or AirBnbs, and all of these tourists NEED TO EAT!

While Aruba offers fantastic restaurants for dining out, there are also excellent grocery stores, and I have selected the three best outlets for my foodie readers like yourself.

People entering and exiting a supermarket with a large "SUPER FOOD" sign. Glass facade, blue and orange colors. Calm, everyday scene.
The Entrance to Super Food Aruba

No visit to Aruba will be complete without a trip to Super Food, the grande dame of the island's supermarkets.

A Caribbean outpost of Dutch grocery giant Jumbo, Super Food offers products from Holland such as gouda cheese, stroopwafel and fresh baked bread.

As you stroll through the store, you can find high quality items from both Europe and the Americas along with fresh fish and meats.

There is a liquor store, pharmacy and home goods store on site as well, so Super Food can be your one stop shop, if need be.

If you are hungry before or after you shop, visit Jack's Cafe, which is always busy for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

The parking lot and checkout lanes can get very congested especially on the weekends and at lunchtime and after work, so plan your visit accordingly.

PRO TIP: Be sure to sign up for Super Food's rewards program for exceptional savings on their weekly specials as regular prices can be more expensive than in the United States.

Further inland from Super Food lies Save More, a budget-oriented shop for essentials.

While their selection is not as large as other local supermarkets, I personally love Save More's frozen whole chickens, which are delicious when roasted in the oven and are an excellent value.

Save More also has a plethora of ice cream, gelato and sorbet options in their freezer section.

The store also offers a shoppers rewards card, so definitely sign up!

  1. CMART

One of the newer stores on the island, CMART is a more luxury-oriented supermarket, and offers items that are not available at other outlets.

For instance, CMART is the only Aruban grocery store where I can find my favorite Southern soft drink: Dr. Pepper.

Along with offering your favorite items from the United States, CMART provides extensive produce, deli and meat sections.

CMART's cafe is popular with locals and open all day, and their wine cellar offers one of the best selections on the island.

Prices are on the high side, so check their weekly specials.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: I also recommend Super Do-It Center and Ling & Sons if you are looking for additional quality food retailers.

I did a TikTok that received over 15,000 views about the grocery stores in Aruba, which you can view here.

Whatever you choose for your eating pleasure, I wish you an incredible vacation on The One Happy Island!
